Change

In my 4o something years of life I have never had to battle something this deep and I hope I never will. Some battles I've won and some battles have worn me down. But there is one battle I can't and have not yet become accustoming to winning and that is change.Change is good but must be consisted. If your going to change you must be ready and always keep in mind that the past must be only for reflection. Don't  get me wrong I am open for change but when it comes to a new way of life and when it involves eating better and more healthier am always getting confused.

I start off good and it may last for about 14 days but then slowly but surely I  am back where I started from and so is the pounds I gain.  This is where I get all confused,a new way of life means never going back to the foods I ate and always being cautions of my food intake. Why  is that so hard for me to understand  I  don't know. But what I've realized  and continuously tell myself is until my mind  is made up there will no change.....

Hi Kim

Some words of advice given to me when I started out on the road to a new me. I found it REALLY helpful - you may find it helpful too.

Make just one small change (e.g. portions, or food choice, or a little more exercise, whatever)...
get used to it for a little while(let it become a true habit)...
then make another small change...
and so on.

Some people call this 'baby steps' which I guess sums it up nicely. Trying to hit all bases with one throw gets confusing and feels like too much to take in at once.

It is a journey, and can be a long one (it was/is for me), but you are on the right track. Just don't forget to be kind to yourself and let the new you emerge a bit at a time. Go for it!

Thank you. Your thoughtful words are like a limb on a tree branch that I will hold onto when I need encouragement. Thanks again and you too please be encouraged!!!
